So. Our astrophysics building requires an ID card to access after hours. In theory, I have access because I have a set due on the second floor at 6 PM, and the doors are locked at 5 PM. However, there are a variety of very nice workspaces, so many people do their Ay sets there.

My ID grants me access to the door from the stairs to the second floor, but does not grant me access to use the elevator. I have severe arthritis, and avoid stairs whenever possible.

Deeply irritated! Especially if this is an "elevators are lazy luxuries ordinary people don't need"-based policy.

I think the card reader in the elevator is broken. Which has its own issues: namely, there are totally disabled astronomers! Who want to access the building after hours! This is not rocket science.

And everybody has the energy to hunt down the person responsible for talking to the guy who tells that other fellow to bring you around an elevator key. Totally. Because it's not like y'all have work to do or anything.

And this is for after-hour access, so there isn't anyone around with an elevator key.
